First VR headset - See what Virtual Reality looked like back in 1991
Virtual reality is set to be all over 2016 with the release of the Oculus Rift, HTC vive and Sony PlayStation VR. However, the technology in itself is not really new and was already set to be deployed in massive consumption 25 years ago in 1991. In the following video, you will find what virtual reality looked like back then, through Virtuality. As you will see, the headset was not tremendously bigger than the ones we have now, but the box used to display the basic graphics must have been pretty huge.
Back then, virtual reality could have very much been part of our living rooms, but developers had put it aside, probably for fear that it might end up like Nintendo’s Virtual Boy. Will virtual reality be more successful? For now, the gamers’ interest is pretty high, the headsets are selling like hot cakes.
