A few months ago, we were proudly presenting Nicobass’ work on his remake of the very first Tomb Raider, titled The dagger of Xian powered by The Unreal Engine 4. Since then, we have talked with the author to find out more about how far ahead the project  is. Copyrights, Tomb Raider demo and new video: here’s everything in this article.

Tomb Raider: The remake will go through

The major issue that more often than not cancels the remakes powered by Unreal Engine is copyrights. A great deal of Nintendo, Capcom or Konami projects has been nipped in the bud, which often forced the developers to give up on their project. In the case of the remake powered by the Unreal Engine 4, we can safely say today that the project will encounter no legal issues since Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix know of the existence of the project and are willing to let it live as long as it is free.

A demo to come for the Remake UE4 of Tomb Raider

Since the lawfulness of the project is now established, Nicobass can now dedicated himself entirely to the making of a demo for this remake. The demo has been in production for a while now and the developer has told us that everyone will be able to try this unreal version of Tomb Raider by the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017, on PC. You can find in this article a video of the demo of  the remake, as well as an interview of Nicobass who happens to have been a faithful reader of Playerone.tv for a while!  Finally, if you want to follow the development of the remake, you may stop by the Tomb Raider Remake website right here.
